Permanent

The permanent exhibition consists of the museum's two core collections. The two storylines intersect at various points in the museum.

  • Healthcare, centred around the Augustinian Sisters Hospitallers, who provided local care for the sick. You will discover something about everyday life in a 17th century hospice, which revolved around a place by the fire, a daily meal and prayers.
  • The legend and the cult of Dimpna, the patron saint of mental health. You get to see the origin of the family foster care that is so typical of Geel, an extraordinary, intangible heritage that lives on today.
